Chapter 10 The Sylow Theorems

The Sylow Theorems describe exactly what subgroups of prime-power order a finite group is guaranteed to have, and are among the most powerful tools for analyzing the structure of finite groups. Their proof rests on the class equation, which in turn is built from the group actions introduced in Section 7.5.
